That's like 563-years-old in internet years Nov 17, 2009 at 04:04
Like most things in life, it started as an idea between friends over a beer. The amazing thing about ideas is that if you believe in them enough they can grow. They don’t always go in the direction that you first thought they would. ... Read on

Black Dynamite settles the score
Adrian Younge keeps it vintage Oct 28, 2009 at 12:33
If one were to describe Adrian Younge as a genius, it would be hard to refute. He’s a composer, arranger, producer, sound engineer, multi-instrumentalist, film editor and to add to that, a professor of law. And if that wasn’t enough to make you feel miserably useless, Younge is also the man behind the blaxploitation comedy Black Dynamite’s score. ... Read on

Laser fantastic portrait archive - Amazing!
Laser fantastic portrait archive
Amazing!
Because nothing says I'm fucking awesome like a bunch of neon lasers. It's true, the 80s gave us so many fantastic inventions but right on up there with the CD-ROM, cell phones and the Apple Macintosh was the introduction of crazy laser-tronic portrait backdrops.

The special effects wonderland of Robert Abel and Associates
Feel Good Fridays x a gazillion
In the 70s and 80s Robert Abel & Associates were pretty much the kings of CGI and animation. They managed to encapsulate all that was rad at the time in terms of colour, neon, typography and futurism into everything that they touched and among other things were responsible for the effects on Sci-Fi cult film classics such as Tron, The Andromeda Strain and The Black Hole.

Made in the UK 1976 - 1982 - Photographs by Janette Beckman
Bands and angry youth culture

The living pictures of Mole and Thomas
Peace time shenanigans
It's actually quite mind boggling that most of these image were created over 90 years ago. Using thousands of returned soldiers in post WW1 peace time, English photographer Arthur S Mole and his American colleague John D Thomas were commissioned by the US government to take a series of morale building photographs for the troops.
