Yann Travaille will leave his mark on your meat

Original tattoo works from Quebec Jun 25, 2009 at 03:07
Long gone are the days where tattoo art was a privilege reserved for social outcasts and degenerates. Today's inked army, it would seem are more common than Subway sandwiches which brings me to an interesting point... For something that used to be a mark of individuality is it even possible to have a tattoo that's truly original? Well it might be if you're fortunate enough to live in Montréal and you stumble across a talented tattoo artist by the name of Yann Travaille.

Yann's style of tattooing completely ignore years of body ink tradition and it's almost as if he treats the people he tattoos like over-sized fleshy doodle pads for him to leave his considered scribbles all over. Not something I'll be lining up for in a hurry but all the same I'm a massive fan of his original take on a relatively saturated art form.

Check some samples of his work tot he right of this post and for more please visit yourmeatismine.com

I've never seen tattoos like this before, they're really incredible.

His techniques are quite amazing. I like how in Pic 13 the crudely drawn characters and scribbles cover up an older tattoo (obviously not done by Travaille), which I think has street art connotations; painting and drawing over old, faded work... It's got a sense of humour about it.

I really like this next gen of tattoo, its extreamly creative and leaves endless lines that can compose into anything and everything.

Lifelounge: now with more T&A than an episode of Naked Wild On 2. Just sayin.

that one where the guys entire arm is black would have hurt like hell.

Freeak, do you not like T&A??? I am confused.

It's fun when it's a special treat. But it's been coming pretty thick and fast of late. I feel like my parents are giving me all my Christmases at once because I'm about to be told I'm Jewish.

I like these, but they are so not for me (my bod, I mean). And Freeak, I think you need MORE T&A. Obviously you have not had enough up until now.

T&A is like good wholesome food. It should be nourishing part of everyday. Also a little bit of "motor boating" does wonders.

Great drawings, but like them better on paper. No aging for paper.
