Is blue the new black? Dec 19, 2009 at 12:24
I finagled an invitation to a private screening of Avatar:

I had been wanting to see it ever since they leaked that teaser 6, 7 months ago.  I was so damn excited, I practically peed my pants when the credits started!
First off- the 3D is INCREDIBLE!  And no gimmicky crap scenes just for the 3D thrill.  No, the image is just MORE REAL and pretty freakin' impressive!  You can tell where the money went.
Then the Jake Sully's opening monologue begins and - gross deception!- the film is in version fancaise!  Still, whoever is dubbing Jake Sully has a super sexy voice, so thats good, but whoever is dubing the facist, military guy is the same guy who dubs Rambo- which was good for comic relief thoughout.

We left the movie in a haze.  The story is simple but primordial and well constructed.  There are none of the usual cliches (except for the facist military guy) or feel good yuck but there is a hell of a lot of good acting and character developement.
The image is incredible!  Plus the design- WOW!
You get totally sucked in- emotionally, (like in Abyss, but not like Titanic.)
I am going again this week-end with my daughter.  I want her to see it!  And I want to see it in English!
See it in 3D if possible!  Go!  Awesome!
