Neil Simon is a freeakin genius
<< Back
Don't take my word for it, ask my shrink. Jul 28, 2009 at 10:33
Massive egos, mentally disturbed characters, a boss you're convinced is slowly deadening himself with drugs: sound like your workplace? Well, that's the environment a young Neil Simon found himself in early in his career.
The experience led him to write what is arguably one of his finest plays: Laughter On The 23d Floor.
Whether you're a culture vulture or just in need of a very good laugh, make an effort to see the production of this very show, currently being put on by Leo9 Productions at the Polyglot Theatre in South Yarra.
It's a very tight, talented cast. The dialogue zips along and the gags fly thick and fast. How do I know? I'm in it.

Details:

Neil Simon's "Laughter On The 23rd Floor"
Presented by Leo9 Productions by special arrangement with Dominie Pty Ltd.

Polyglot Theatre, Cromwell St, Sth Yarra (behind St Martin's Church). Wed 29 July, Thur 30, Fri 1 Aug, Sat 2, Starts 8pm sharp.
Saturday matinee starts 2pm sharp.
Tickets $20/$17con.

Preview performance 8pm Tue 28 July. All tickets $15.

Believe me, you'll laugh till you have pains in your kishkas.

Can we get a video performance???

Um...not legally. And if I ever find someone who semi-professionally records it without my knowledge I'll be really, really, um, shocked and disappointed. So I'll have to post snippets of it as a lesson for everyone else not to ever EVER do anything like that again.

Just asked my girlfriend to go with me to this and she said said "oh, it would be nice to see some real theater"as if my whole -penis sock puppeteer- thing isn't legitimate.
