Laurie Lipton

Have you ever experienced a nightmare where something terrible is about to happen and you try to scream or run but you're too paralysed with fear to do so. Have you ever watched a horror movie and sensed the inevitable horrific act and all you want to do is pull a doona over your eyes or cover them with your hands but you can't look away. Have you ever had the sensation that you're not alone, when there's noone visible around you and all of the hairs on the back of your neck stand up like meer cats. Then prepare yourself because the work of Laurie Lipton conjures up that same sense of fear. Every illustration is exactly like that moment in a horror film that you know is coming but when it does you still jump out of your seat with surprise, shock and fear. I'm guessing she doesn't sleep very well.

Contemplative and technically intricate. A respectful showing.

I agree. Fantastic detail.

fucking disturbing though, especially "Love Bite"

Christ! If I wasn't such a pussy I'd be overwhelmed by these and not just terrified. 'Hunger' has quite possibly prematurely ended my sex life.

These are all so interesting...I'm not quite sure what to think. The Hag's Embrace is my favorite though. It's so beautiful.
