After releasing 'Pro Nails' almost two years ago, Chicago-based Kid Sister (AKA Melissa Young, AKA A-Trak's ladyfriend, AKA sister to Josh 'J2K' Young of Flosstradamus) is finally ready, steady, go for her debut album Ultra Violet.
By now we've heard pretty much every song on the album (highlights are still 'Pro Nails', 'Get Fresh') but a few more songs that didn't make their way onto the internets live on Ultra Violet too – collaborations with Cee-Lo and Estelle were nice surprises. With production from heavyweights like XXXChange, A-Trak, Rusko, Hervé and Sinden and cameos from Mr West et al, it's obvious Kid Sister really wanted to make an impact. The only problem is that it's so long overdue (and it's a little short) but better late than never, right?
We also heard a rumour that Estelle and Kid Sister did a version of Queen Latifah's 'Ladies First' but it never made the album. Sighs aplenty.
