Ever wondered what would happen if you put The Black Keys, Damon Dash, Mos Def, Jim Jones, RZA, Raekwon, Nikki Wray, Billy Danze, Ludacris, Pharoae Monch, NOE and the always delightful Q-Tip in the recording studio? Think it sounds like mash-up, clash-up hell? How very wrong you are.
When we first heard about The Black Keys and Dame Dash's project Blakroc, we admit there was a moment of doubt – yet another endeavour into hip hop 'fusion'? Another big name collaboration? A possibility of too many cooks spoiling the music? But the results so far are absolutely sublime.
Dash (who co-founded Roc-A-Fella Records with Jay-Z) and The Black Keys (those bluesy-rock dreamboats) might seem an unlikely partnership – bling and garage blues aren't exactly besties – however, we can't wait for the album's release later this month.
